You are the freaking coolest! These are always so fun to read and that pink skirt is amazing. 🩷 Love the idea of listening to newly released albums in entirety. I also find myself stuck in past decades when it comes to music and getting overwhelmed with Spotify's abundance.

💖 I was so happy the theme was pink because my closet was already stocked with options thanks to Barbie Summer '23! Spotify is so overwhelming, yes! The decision paralysis is real!

I loved this so much. I also really relate. It’s hard for me to let go and let something new, that maybe I’m not into right away, get a chance.

I just started getting into Chappell Roan, like the last month or so, and I’m obsessed. So fun. 🪩

Yesss, so easy to get set in our ways! Love that you're also a Chappell fan! She's such an amazing performer and absolutely kills it live. Just love her videos and whole vibe. It's a fun time for pop music.

I love to read anything about someone's music preferences or exploring your musical tastes! Glad you are getting out of a rut, it is really fun to find new-to-you bands and artists. :) I would have been so excited to work in a record store as a teenager. I used to frequent a used/resale music store that my hometown had and it was a great way for me to buy cds at a reduced cost and get recommendations from the employees. Spotify has not really steered me wrong with recommendations in the last few years but it is not the same as talking to an enthusiastic person about their musical tastes, you know?

I used to religiously listen to my new music and new release Friday and have fallen out of the habit since I listen to a lot of podcasts now. Thanks for the reminder that I need to go back to those. Also, going to music fests and concerts are some of my favorite ways to spend disposable income, even if I don't know any of the artists well. There's just something special about live music, especially outside! I am also a big fan of music documentaries and books and definitely second this recommendation as well.

What is most fun or best concert you've ever been to? I've been to a lot of shows but I am going to say the most fun I've ever had at a concert was seeing Hall and Oates about 8 years ago. The crowd was so diverse and everyone was dancing and singing outside and it was a GREAT time. Music really can bring people together. I've seen a lot of my favorite bands but the atmosphere at that particular show was so fun and energetic.

I was thinking about you when I was writing this because I remember you mentioning the Led Zeppelin bio on your last newsletter! I love a "rock doc" or book, especially when it's for a really messy artist (Mötley Crüe's the Dirt comes to mind). I was trying to think of some good ones to recommend for this but I feel like my favorites have been pretty niche. I was a big Against Me! fan growing up and really enjoyed their singer, Laura Jane Grace's, autobiography which talked about her transition to a woman which was especially interesting in a more macho music genre. If you have any more suggestions, send them my way!

LOVE that you saw Hall and Oates! "Rich Girl" is one of my favorite road trip singalong jams. There is something about the popular music of that period that everyone can love. I'm a pure product of my time and my favorite concert of all time was seeing My Chemical Romance in a small venue circa 2004, just before they blew up. They were opening for Avenged Sevenfold who performed like they were in front of a crowd of thousands instead of a few hundred with all these special effects. I met My Chemical Romance's singer, Gerard Way, and watched some of the headliner's set with him, screaming into each others ears our commentary voer the music. He's basically emo royalty now and I still have the tee shirt he signed tucked away in a drawer haha!

I'm always down to talk music, total music nerd here! :)
